Plate Flanges

Flat flanges cut from plate steel for custom sizes and waterworks applications.

Plate flanges are flat flanges manufactured by cutting and machining from steel plate rather than forging from bar or billet stock. They feature a simple flat-face design with bolt holes and are commonly used in low-to-moderate pressure applications where the cost of forged flanges is not justified. Plate flanges can be produced in virtually any diameter, making them the practical solution for oversized and non-standard applications.

Common plate materials include ASTM A36 (structural carbon steel), A516 Grade 70 (pressure vessel quality plate), and A285 Grade C. Plate flanges are manufactured by flame cutting, plasma cutting, or water jet cutting the blank, followed by machining the faces, bore, and bolt holes. While plate flanges are not covered by ASME B16.5 (which requires forgings), they are widely used per AWWA C207 for waterworks, MSS SP-44 for custom applications, and project-specific engineering specifications.

Flanges.AI manufactures plate flanges in custom sizes from 24" up to 203" in diameter. Standard applications include AWWA waterworks mains and treatment plant piping, HVAC ductwork transitions, storage tank nozzles, and large-diameter low-pressure process piping. All plate flanges include material certifications and dimensional inspection reports. Contact us with your diameter, bolt pattern, and material requirements for a quotation.
